'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

Hymn #462
Words by Louisa M. R. Stead
Music by William J. Kirkpatrick
Tune Name: TRUST IN JESUS

How many lessons can be found in a single story? Perhaps the answer depends on who hears the story and how many times they hear it. This week we read once again the story of Abraham who was commanded to take Isaac to the mountain and make a sacrifice to God. What a frightening thought! We read on about the way that Abraham built the altar, laid the wood, and bound his son. The tension and the terror continue to rise as Abraham lifts his hand to plunge his knife into Isaac.

1. 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
and to take him at his word;
just to rest upon his promise,
and to know, "Thus saith the Lord."
(Refrain)
2. O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
just to trust his cleansing blood;
and in simple faith to plunge me
neath the healing, cleansing flood!
(Refrain)
3. Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
just from sin and self to cease;
just from Jesus simply taking
life and rest, and joy and peace.
(Refrain)
4. I'm so glad I learned to trust thee,
precious Jesus, Savior, friend;
and I know that thou art with me,
wilt be with me to the end.
(Refrain)
Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I've proved him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!

God bless you--
